How do I apply for a Dutch passport? Do I need to apply in person for my passport application?
All applicants, including minors, must make an appointment before coming in person to apply for a passport.
I have a baby who needs a Dutch passport. What now?
Your child must appear in person with both parents. Please download and complete the passport application form and bring two passport pictures, your child's birth certificate, both parents' passports (your visas or Greencards must be shown as well) and marriage certificate. If your child was born in the US and you were married in the US, than both documents will need an apostille. Click here for more information on Legalization & Apostilles.
What do I need to bring to have my passport renewed?
Please download and complete the passport application form. In addition, bring two passport pictures, your current passport and proof of US residency. The passport fee plus shipping charges may be paid in cash (please bring the exact amount), or by check; credit cards are not accepted. There is a flat rate for the passport processing fee. However, the fee in dollars varies according to the current exchange rate. Please click here to find out the current fee.
Passport picture requirements
The Photo Matrix
Starting on August 26, 2006, Dutch travel documents, the Dutch Passport and the Dutch Identity Card, will all contain a micro-chip wherein an individual's facial features are stored. The facial features will be stored through the process of scanning individual passport pictures that meet the stricter passport photo requirements. By implementing the new Photo Matrix Model 2006, the Netherlands meets the requirements of the EU-regulations concerning standards for the security characteristics of and biometric data of recorded facial features. Only passport photos meeting all the given requirements will be accepted at the point of application for a travel document.
